The Toronto Marine Unit has pulled a body from Lake Ontario and police say the man is a Toronto police officer.
Police tweeted just after noon that a body had been recovered from the water.
Constable Victor Kwong says the search began after reports a man fell into the lake near Polson Pier on Wednesday.
They were called to the scene near Cherry and Polson streets, just after 4 p.m.
Police suspended the search for the man last night but it resumed this morning.
The family of the officer has asked for privacy so police haven’t released the officer’s name or age.
An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow to determine the cause of death.
