Gyimah Andrews Boateng, 21 of Toronto Faces Fraud Charges Over Kijiji Scam

Toronto Police have a man in custody following a fraud investigation.

21 year old Gyimah Andrews Boateng was arrested back on February 10th after police found evidence the Toronto man was using the popular classified site Kijiji to sell what people believed were brand new iPhone 6′s.

Over a three week period, Boateng met with two separate buyers in person at the intersections of Islington Avenue and Dixon Road as well as Albion Road and Kipling Avenue.

After a cash transaction, both buyers later discovered that the sealed phone cases contained not a brand new iPhone, but a box full of rice.

Police believe there may be more than just two victims.

Boateng is facing several charges including two counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of false pretense under $5,000 as well as two counts of breach of court order.

He appeared in a Toronto court earlier this week.

Anyone with any further information is being asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
