A school bus driver is now accused of sexually abusing six kids with special needs.
Frank Gavas, 61, of Toronto, was arrested three weeks ago for allegedly sexually assaulting three preteen children between September and January.
Since then, three more victims have been identified, Toronto Police said.
“It’s such a terrible case,” Const. David Hopkinson said Thursday. “These are kids who rely on people like their bus driver to keep them safe.”
Gavas was originally charged with six counts of sexual assault and six counts of sexual interference.
The new sexual abuse allegations involve two preteen girls and a teenage boy.
Gavas now faces an additional three counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference.
He worked for Stock Transportation since 2006, driving kids to Scarborough schools including Georges Vanier Secondary School, Wexford Public School, George Peck Public School, and Sloane Public School.
Following his arrest last month, Stock Transportation confirmed Gavas was no longer an employee.
Police said they remain concerned there could be more victims.
“It’s hard enough to get kids to tell someone when something like this has happened to them, so just imagine how difficult it can be when the kids involved have special needs,” Hopkinson said.
Gavas remains in jail awaiting a bail hearing.
