Canadian rapper Smoke Dawg is 'killed in street shooting' in Toronto aged 21

Canadian rapper Smoke Dawg has reportedly been killed following a shooting in Toronto last night.

There were multiple shots fired outside Cube Nightclub on Queen Street in the entertainment district of the city, according to Toronto Police Operations Center on Twitter.

Drake has led tributes to the 21-year-old artist, sharing a photo of Smoke Dawg on his Instagram story.

He wrote: 'All these gifts and blessed souls and inner lights being extinguished lately is devastating.

'I wish peace would wash over our city. So much talent and so many stories we never get to see play out. Rest up Smoke.'

Smoke Dawg supported Drake at several concerts for his Boy Meets World European tour in 2017.

Police have said that multiple shots were fired, and that there were three victims. The suspects are believed to have fled in a black SUV or a white car.

CP24 have reported that two male victims were taken to hospital in a critical condition, with one later dying, and a female victim was also taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Mustafa the Poet, a songwriter and friend of Smoke Dawg's, wrote on Twitter: 'Smokey is gone, may our prayers follow him to heaven.'

Canadian hip hop artist Murda Beatz, whose real name is Shane Lee Lindstrom, added: 'RIP My Brothers Smoke Dawg & Koba.. Love You Guys 4 Life.. Rest Easy.'

Smoke Dawg was a member of Halal Gang with Mo-G and Puffy L'z, and rose to fame for his song 'Still'. 

He released a song called 'Fountain Freestyle' just last week.

Police have not yet confirmed Smoke Dawg was the victim.
