Zion Sankar-Beharry, 20, is accused of firing a gun at Yorkdale Mall, arrested in Trenton




The man wanted in the firing of a gun at Yorkdale mall late last week has been arrested thanks to tips from the public.

Toronto Police were called to the busy shopping centre on Thursday around 2:50 p.m. after the sound of gunshots sent panicked shoppers fleeing.

Police say two groups of men were involved in an altercation and two shots were fired.

On Friday, police identified Zion Sankar-Beharry, 20, of Toronto, as the alleged gunman.

After numerous tips, Sankar-Beharry, 20, was arrested on Monday without incident outside of Trenton with the assistance of the OPP.

He faces 11 charges including two counts of attempted murder and occupy motor vehicle with firearm.

He was scheduled to appear in 1000 Finch Ave. W. court on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
