A family dispute over the use of a car allegedly led to a son stabbing his 50-year-old father to death Tuesday afternoon in Etobicoke.
Toronto Police were called to an apartment building on Redgrave Dr. — near Martin Grove Rd. and Hwy. 401 — around 4:30 p.m. and found a man with no vital signs who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s wife, Shabana Saib, says she was home when the altercation allegedly unfolded between her husband, Amir Saibby, and their 20-year-old son.
“My son came home from work and my husband said he needed the car to pick up a brother at the airport, but my son said ‘no, he had to go to the gym,’” Saib recalled on Wednesday.
Saib, who is staying with a neighbour, suffered cuts to her forehead while allegedly trying to disarm her son.
“His dad took away my son’s keys and told him to get his own apartment,” she alleged. “That’s when he ran to the kitchen and got a knife and stabbed my husband in the shoulder and the stomach.
“Then he stabbed himself in the stomach and took off in the car,” Saib claims.
Police located a suspect after a car crash near Hwy. 401 and Islington Ave. The man was arrested and taken to hospital.
Noah Saib, 20, of Toronto, is charged with second-degree murder in the city’s 76th homicide of the year.
Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit is also probing the deadly incident.
