Derrick McKeown, 33, from Georgetown was the victim in a 6:35 a.m. shooting on Townley Cres.

A man gunned down in the second of two deadly shootings in Brampton on Sunday made an emotional social media post about the first shooting hours before he was killed.

Peel Regional Police identified Derrick McKeown, 33, from Georgetown, as the victim in a 6:35 a.m. shooting on Townley Cres. His death came about six hours after a double shooting around 12:45 a.m. in the area of Vodden St. E., west of Kennedy Rd., that killed Cliff Corrreia, 27, of Brampton and wounded a woman.

Police said the shootings were “targeted” and “related to one another.”

In a post on McKeown’s Facebook page at 3:46 a.m. Sunday, he said the wounded woman was mother to his son.

“OMG baby stay with us and don’t go to heaven. Please Lord please don’t take her from me. You make sure she doesn’t die. She was shot,” McKeown wrote.

“You don’t take her. You can take someone else because she is innocent and beautiful. You don’t have to take her.”

Const. Sarah Patten said Monday that police aren’t identifying the woman or giving a motive for the shootings.

On Monday, police arrested Patrick Doyle, 27, of Brampton, in relation to both incidents. He has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Anyone with information or surveillance from the area is asked to call police 905-453-2121, ext. 3205.

The murders are the region’s 19th and 20th of the year.
