A witness named Michael told media he saw the gunman try to rob a vendor inside the market. That’s when the victim — possibly the flea market owner — intervened and was shot and killed.
The shooter was “calm” and ventured off slowly into the subdivision, Michael recalled.
“I’m a little shaky,” he said. “One of the jewellers was getting robbed, so he tried to help and boom, he got shot. I only saw commotion of people running.”
A weapon was located, police said, and a suspect was taken into custody.
This is the city’s 74th homicide of the year and 38th gun murder.
