Shawn Ramsey, 46 arrested in hit-and-run that killed Olivia Sarracini, 17 in Downsview

Toronto Police say they have made an arrest in connection with the death of the 17-year-old girl who died in a hit-and-run in Downsview Park early Sunday.

Olivia Sarracini, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Calvington Dr. at Keele St. north of Wilson Ave. Her 19-year-old sister Julia, who was also struck, is recovering in hospital.

They were using a marked crosswalk.

The driver fled and was last seen heading west on Calvington.

Shawn Ramsey, 46, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with fail to stop at the scene of an accident causing death and fail to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police are asking local residents, businesses and drivers who may have security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
