Man killed in fight nearJane St and Wilson Ave gasoline station
A man was killed in a bloody fight near a Downsview gas station Wednesday night.
Toronto Police say the deadly incident occurred on Wilson Ave. just east of Jane St. around 9 p.m.
“We received reports of two men involved in a physical altercation,” Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook said Thursday, explaining “one man fell to ground” after the assault and the other man fled the scene.
The victim, believed to be 36, was found bleeding badly in an empty field next to a gas station on the north side of Wilson Ave.
“The man taken to trauma centre, where he was pronounced dead,” Douglas-Cook said.
A suspect was located, reportedly covered in blood, near a dentist’s office a block east of the gas station at William Cragg Dr.
The gas station at Epic Lane Rd. remained cordoned off with yellow crime scene tape Thursday morning as police gathered evidence.
The grass in the field on the west side of the service station was stained with blood and littered with first aid supplies left behind by paramedics.
Douglas-Cook said homicide detectives have taken over the investigation.
Police have not released the names of the victim or the suspect.
And there was no immediate word on charges.
Anyone with information regarding this murder is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS.
