Jermaine Hall, 23, of Richmond Hill, and Drucella Oduro, 21, of Toronto, are each charged with numerous firearms-related offences after man shot, pedestrian hit in Toronto's Annex

Police have two people in custody after a shooting Monday night in the Annex — the second to take place in less than 24 hours.

A little before 10 p.m., police received reports of gunshots coming from a residential area near Madison Ave. and Bernard Ave., east of Spadina Rd. and Dupont St.

Emergency crews encountered a victim suffering from gunshot wounds in his upper body.

He was rushed to a nearby trauma centre by Toronto paramedics.

As the same time, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle fleeing the scene — one police suspect was used a getaway car by the shooter.

Toronto Police say an abandoned vehicle believed connected to the shooting was found nearby, and a firearm has been located.

A man and a woman are in custody. The victims are not believed to be in life-threatening condition.

The shooting was the second police responded to on Monday, and the third in the past 48 hours.

Just after midnight, police responded to a shooting at 5 Shoreham Ct., near Jane St. south of Steeles Ave. that claimed the life of Jibri Husani James, 39.

On Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 3:31 a.m., 25-year-old Karim Hirani was gunned down outside 415 Driftwood Ave.
