Motorcycle rider accused of parking-lot burnouts in Vaughan


A motorcycle rider has been charged after he performed a burnout in a parking lot in Vaughan.

On Friday, July 3, shortly after 9:30 p.m., police were investigating vehicles and their drivers who attended a car meet in a parking lot on Windflower Gate in the area of Hwy. 7 and Ansley Gate Rd.

This followed weeks of complaints from the community over loud vehicle noise from cars and motorcycles.

Community complaints have included dangerous driving in the parking lot, loud noise overnight from vehicles with improper mufflers.

There were reports of sounds of gunshots, which were actually improper vehicle exhaust systems.

While investigating, officers observed a motorcycle doing a burnout in the crowded parking lot while people stood nearby filming the stunt.

Through further investigation, officers were able to identify the rider and he was arrested on Wednesday.

A 37-year-old man from Richmond Hill has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

From Thursday, July 9 through to the morning of Sunday, July 12, police with the Road Safety Bureau laid more than 70 charges for violations under the Highway Traffic Act.
