Alpha Conteh, 24, the city's 71st murder victim of the year, was gunned down at Warden Ave. and Burnhill Rd. in Scarborough on Aug. 31, 2018.

Investigators need help identifying a suspected getaway vehicle used by a killer who gunned down a 24-year-old man in Scarborough on Friday.

Toronto Police received a call about the deadly shooting at Warden Ave. and Burnhill Rd., just north of Danforth Rd., around 4:45 a.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located a man in the middle of Burnhill Rd. with apparent gunshot wounds,” Homicide Det. Leslie Dunkley said in a statement released Saturday. “The man was treated by attending paramedics and was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.”

Police have now identified Alpha Conteh, of Toronto, as the city’s 71st murder victim of the year.

“The suspect had a very brief interaction with Conteh, a few seconds at the most,” Homicide Det. Andy Singh told reporters Saturday at the scene. “And then he opened fire.”

Investigators have released security video of the suspected shooter — a man who was wearing a light-coloured hoodie, possibly grey, and blue jeans — running to the alleged getaway vehicle that was waiting across the street on Mack Ave..

“He was seen getting into the front passenger door of a waiting vehicle,” Dunkley said.

Cops also released several video clips of the suspect vehicle — a four-door light-coloured sedan, possibly a grey Nissan Altima, that was last seen heading south on Warden Ave. towards Danforth Rd.

Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect, or the suspect vehicle, is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
