Toronto Police made a quick arrest and recovered a firearm after a man was shot in St. James Town late Tuesday.
Just before midnight, officers received reports of multiple gunshots in the Wellesley and Ontario Sts. area. They found an unconscious man with a gunshot wound to his neck.
“Officers were first on scene and the man was bleeding from the neck. They had to apply pressure to the wound and waited for paramedics to arrive,” Const. Jen Sidhu said Wednesday.
Information from the public led police to a man, who then fled on foot.
Sidhu says the man ran into a residential backyard and police set up a perimeter using the canine unit in a “high-risk take down.”
The man was arrested and a firearm, which was a loaded Smith and Wesson 9-mm pistol, was allegedly recovered.
Keeron Tashmel Creary, 29, of Toronto, is with charged with numerous offences including attempted murder, point a firearm, possession of a restricted firearm, and possession of a firearm contrary to an order.
Anyone with information is asked to call 416-808-5100 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
